February: The idea for a better auto repair app was hatched
Mobile Tech RX is transforming the auto reconditioning industry by delivering an auto repair app built by technicians, for technicians. The Mobile Tech RX app makes it easy for technicians to estimate, invoice, manage teams, and capture data on-the-go and from a phone. The company was founded in 2014 by former PDR professionals Eric Garves and Daimen Simmons. Since then, we’ve gained thousands of users, made significant product updates, opened an Austin office, and closed a $4.2 million Series A funding round led by Silverton Partners.
In 2007, making an invoice on a car lot consisted of a three-part paper invoice, a pen, and a calculator. If you made a mistake, you had to start over or scribble over the error. Writing invoices on a car in the Texas summer would burn your palms, and it would take an hour to circle the hail damage on a paper matrix to get a grand total.
After wasting years writing estimates and invoices by hand, Daimen and I began searching for a digital solution. We found a few and gave them a try, but found ourselves building long lists of missing functionality. The list of shortcomings was so long that we decided to try building our own solution.
Since we released the first version of Mobile Tech RX in 2015, we’ve experienced significant growth in our user base and software functionality. What began as a simple app to help run our dent business has turned into a software product capable of handling the needs of any small or large reconditioning company. I retired from the repair side of the industry in 2017 and now focus 100% of my time on finding ways to make Mobile Tech RX the most valuable tool in your toolbox.
